A man goes berserk at the House of Representatives and forces the legislative body’s security officers to arrest him.

The man, who said his name was Hendri, yelled at the House and demanded that he see the legislative body speaker, Marzuki Alie from the Democratic Party.

“I am a citizen of Ogan Ilir [in South Sumatera ]. I want to report the Ogan Ilir regent because he has yet to pay the 13th salary for our state officials. How can the officials provide food for their wives and children without that salary?” the man yelled.

Hendri also accused that the Ogan Ilir regent had conducted corruption that cost the regency Rp 18 billion (US$2 million)

Hendri then continuously cried his demand for no avail, as security guards then arrested him and took him out of the House compound.

This is the third incident at the House in this week.

First, senior actor Pong Harjatmo climbed the House rooftops and painted messages of protest, and just yesterday, one of the legislative body’s touch screen monitors was hacked and replaced with a porn website.

Despite the ever expanding number of malls in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta is apparently not the "City of Shopping Malls". Dubai, with a total of 76 malls in 2010, could be the first contender, followed closely by various cities in India like Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore.

Shopping malls have transformed from literally the fruit of consumerism into something more complex in recent years. While more and more malls are becoming the norm in Jakarta, with various stores clustered in one spot, a smaller number has turned into favorite weekend destinations, with people dressing up not necessarily to buy anything.

There are now places where people can spend time with family to relax, be it at a giant bookstore or a karaoke hall, watch a concert or a jazz performance in one area, enjoy culinary delights at established restaurants, do various sports like jogging and ice skating and see blockbuster movies within an integrated theater. Dubai Emirates Mall, for example, houses the world's third largest indoor ski slope, measuring 400 meters with 6,000 tons of snow.

Jakarta will see another giant mall this year, competing with the likes of Plaza Indonesia and the integrated eX, Plaza Senayan, Grand Indonesia and Mall Kelapa Gading.

The 301,374-square-meter Gandaria City shopping mall, located within the biggest superblock yet in South Jakarta, Gandaria City superblock, is scheduled to open its doors to the public on July 2nd.

With the major construction to finish very soon, the project has received a Green Mark from Singapore for its architectural botanical concept, in addition to many green features that are expected to reduce its carbon footprint. The mall is not expected to have any negative impacts on air quality or traffic in the surrounding area as there will be direct tunnel access to its parking areas from Jl. KHM Syafi'I Hadzami and four direct accesses from different streets.

There will be about 500 tenants within the five-story shopping mall, ranging from Metro Department Store, Studio XXI, Ace Hardware, Toyland to T-Rex karaoke. One zone in the mall, named Mainstreet, will be a 30,000-square-meter food and beverage site with the old city of Batavia as its reference.

Developed by the Pakuwon Group, Gandaria City is aimed at becoming an excellent, one-stop shopping and service-oriented mall that combines the features of a prestigious shopping mall and lifestyle themes.

The group held a gathering on April 28, 2010, attended by tenants and representatives of the Pakuwon Group. With construction in the area to come to an end, in which buildings include the 36-story Ganda Ria 8 office tower, two Gandaria Heights towers of condominiums and an internationally operated, 300-room five-star Gandaria City Hotel, Gandaria City is one development that will help change the face of Jakarta and turn it into a megapolitan city, while the idea of a "city of shopping malls" can wait a little bit longer.

Batik designer Iwan Tirta passes away

Renowned batik designer Iwan Tirta died at 8:35 a.m. at Abdi Waluyo Hospital in Menteng, Central Jakarta. He was 75 years old.

In recent years Iwan had suffered from diabetes and a series of strokes, according to his assistant, Trisna. He was hospitalized for the last two weeks.

A Yale-educated lawyer, Iwan pursued his love of traditional batik in the 1970s and 1980s, becoming the country's leading authority on the traditional Javanese fabric. He designed for visiting dignitaries, including for US president Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, in the mid-1980s, and for the leaders at the 1994 APEC Summit.

How to Read People's Minds - 3 Secret Ways to Read People's Thoughts

While we haven't yet reached the age of flying cars and robot wars, we have at least reached the point where we know how to read people's minds. These days, there are various methods you can use to know what another person is thinking.

These methods range from the basic to the scientific. If you want to explore the knowledge of how to read people's minds, check out some of these tips below.

Body Language



One of the basic ways on how to read people's minds is by reading their body language. As primitive as this method might seem, not a lot of people seem to know about it or know how to actually use it. However, I'll let you in on some of the key bodily movements that can help you read people's minds.

When talking to a person, notice the direction that their knees are pointed. If the knees are turned towards you, then you know that the other person is interested in you and agrees with what you're saying. On the other hand, it they're turned away from you, then you better think of a way to capture their interest.

Eye Movement

Here's how to read people's minds through their eyes. When a person is trying to create an image out of nothing, they will most likely look upward and to the left.

In the meantime, a person trying to remember a particular image will most likely look upward and to the right. As effective as this method is, don't let it be the last straw when making a decision.

Brain Activity

On a more scientific scale, there has been a small yet significant progress when it comes to knowing how to read people's minds. Neuroscientist Kendrick Kay, along with his colleagues, has stumbled upon a way to determine which image a person is looking at without ever seeing the images before.

According to "Scientific American," the team was able to create a computer model that could read a person's brain activity accurately. That model could read the brightness and angle the person perceived when looking at the picture; so when the series of pictures was presented to the model, it was able to determine which picture the person was looking at by comparing its brightness and angle. Of course, the model is not 100% right all the time as some pictures may have similar amounts of brightness and angle.

Learning how to read people's minds can be interpreted in many, different ways. While we haven't yet reached the point where reading people's minds is as easy as looking above their heads and reading words from a thought bubble, we have at least made it halfway there.

Now you can easily amaze anyone with 11 secret mind reading tricks you can easily perform, and easily make people do anything you want using proven mind control techniques.

Story - The Lost Man

A worker in Uzbekistan saw a homeless man sitting on the street and felt God's prompting to help him. He gave him some bread and asked after his situation. The man was evidently dehydrated, bruised and scared. The worker couldn't tell whether he was an alcoholic or if he was sick.

The worker brought him into his own house and gave him food and drink and helped him to wash. The man was confused as to where he lived. He said he had a sister and yet he couldn't find his way home.

Some people came and warned that the man should leave, for he was a drunk and would come back and steal from the house.

Eventually the worker decided to drive around with him in the area the man vaguely indicated. He recognised a street and a house and on approaching it the occupant ran out and up to the homeless man and embraced him with tears of joy.

The family told of their brother who had left the house 20 days earlier to get a magazine and had never returned. He was slightly retarded and had very bad eyesight. Posters had been put up and information given on the local radio station to help to trace the missing man, but without success.

The worker had the chance to share about the love of God, the prayers around the world being prayed for their nation and how God had heard the prayers. They wept together over the goodness of God and said that this worker would now be a member of their family. They explained that God had told them a man with a pure heart would bring back their brother.

The worker shared the gospel and prayed for them. The older sister said "May God give you a nation", to which the worker replied "That is my prayer, also".

Story - What Happens During Ramadan?

Women have a very difficult time during Ramadan, with no food or water during daylight hours. They have to be up well before the crack of dawn to make sure that their families are fed in the dark, then they are exhausted for the rest of the day. They have to make sure however, that stacks of food await their menfolk at exactly the right time for breaking the fast at sunset.

For the men, Ramadan brings a different set of challenges. During the day taxi drivers park their vehicles under the shade of trees, open all the doors and windows and sprawl out for a long siesta. Llater, during the half hour before sundown, the roads are extremely busy and very dangerous. The drivers are short-tempered, desperate to get home, low on sugar and high on adrenaline. They then arrive home or at their friend's house for the piety of ifturlik, the feast at the end of the fast.

HELEN KELLER - Born in 1880 - Died in 1968

Helen Keller at the age of 19 months,(not quite 2 years old) was a happy, healthy child. She was already saying a few words.

Then she had a high fever which caused her to become deaf and blind. No longer could she see nor hear. She felt lost. She would hang on to her mother's skirt to get around. She would feel of people's hands to try to find out what they were doing. She learned to do many things this way. She learned to milk a cow and knead the bread dough.

She could recognize people by feeling of their faces or their clothes.

She made up signs with her hands so she could "talk" to her family. She had 60 different signs. If she wanted bread, she pretended to be cutting a loaf. If she wanted ice cream, she would hug her shoulders and shiver.
Helen was a very bright child. She became very frustrated * because she couldn't talk. She became very angry and began to throw temper tantrums * . The family knew they had to do something to help her.

They found a teacher named Anne Sullivan. Miss Sullivan herself had been blind, but had an operation and regained her sight. She understood what Helen was feeling.

She taught Helen the signs for the letters of the alphabet. Then she would "spell" the words in Helen's hand to communicate * with her.

One day Anne led Helen to the water pump and pumped water on her hand. She spelled the letters W-A-T-E-R as the water ran over Helen's hand. She did this over and over again. At last it dawned on Helen that the word "water" meant the water which she felt pouring over her hand. This opened up a whole new world for her. She ran everywhere asking Anne the name of different things and Anne would spell the words in her hand. This was the key which unlocked the world for her.
She eventually stopped having the tantrums. Anne taught her for years. Helen learned to read Braille * . This was a system of raised dots representing letters. A blind person could read by feeling of the dots.

When she went to college, her teacher Anne went with her and tapped out the words of the instructors into her student's hand.

Helen had an amazing memory, and she also had skills very few people have ever been able to develop. She could put her fingers to a person's lips and understand the words which were being spoken.

While she was in college she wrote her book called "The Story of My Life". With the money she earned from the book she was able to buy a house.

She became famous and traveled around the world speaking to groups of people. She met many important and well-known people as she traveled.

Helen Keller was successful because of her determination. However, many people helped her. The most important person in her life was Anne Sullivan who stayed
with her for 50 years.

Alright, I’m going to dive right in here. I don’t read the tabloids and I’ve been spending my days with my four little girls, so I really only heard about all the new stories circulating about me late last night from my fans. Thank you all for the heads up, for the wonderful wishes and prayers!

Since I don’t really pay attention to the gossip, I don’t usually respond to it, but I’ve gotten so many questions from you all that I want to let you guys know the truth.

As you know, Joe and I filed for bankruptcy protection back in October 2009 primarily because of real estate deals gone bad in a bad economy. We didn’t spend millions of dollars on gold toilets or private planes. We bought buildings, fixed them up, and tried to help other people start their own businesses or be able to afford an apartment. The economy crash trickled down to everyone. We worked so hard for so many years and it was heartbreaking to file, and not something we took lightly. Of course you can’t sit in your bed and just cry all day, so we moved forward, got new jobs, and are working hard once again. The point is to get a fresh start so you can move forward.

If we didn’t give fresh starts to people, we wouldn’t have the following great American companies that were only able to be created after their owners’ filed bankruptcy: The Walt Disney Company, Hilton Hotels, Hershey’s chocolates, Macy’s department stores, Heinz ketchup and even WalMart. If Sam Walton hadn’t filed bankruptcy after his first store failed, he wouldn’t have been able to build the largest company in the world that employs more people than any other: 2 million!

The Jakarta city administration mulls the possibility of limiting the number of motorcycles in certain areas during peak hours in order to help settle the city's acute traffic jams.

The plan to limit the number of motorcycles constitutes one of the topics discussed in the assessment for the application of electronic road pricing system.

The idea to limit the number of motorcycles is based on consideration that the growth rate of motorcycles in the city has reached 900 units per day.

The application of road engineering through traffic regulation is based not only on technical factor to settle traffic jam problems, but also on comprehensive approaches linked to socio-economical considerations covered in the city's macro transportation scheme concept.

“I emphasize, for a city as big as Jakarta, transportation development constitutes the main priority in the development agenda. It's not negotiable. At the moment we're in the process of building mass transportation system based on mass rapid transit (MRT) and bus rapid transit (BRT),” Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said aa quoted by kompas.com news portal on Monday.

Fauzi said that he has ordered Jakarta Police Traffic Director and Jakarta Transportation Agency head to order the use of motorcycles, many of which pass through whichever lanes.

There is a possibility that the assessment will also apply free motorcycle hours in certain areas in the city, the governor said.

The recorded number of violence againist children this year reahed almost 2000 in may.

Most cases reported were of physical and sexual violence. mostly the violence cases happened because economic problems breed dysfuntional families. this condition affects several aspects of the children lives. there are many of children from poor families have a hard time of decent health and education services. Such as that 13 million indonesian children is malnutrition every year and at least 500 is died because of diarrhea and complications during their mother's pregnancies.

There are 2.5 million children between 7 to 15 years that doesn't get 9 years education and 486,426 children drop out from their school at the primary school and there were at least 600,000 under age marriage.

The goverment should establish crisis centers in neighborhoods to deal with the violence.

The goverment announced plans to block porn websites before the Muslim fasting month of ramadhan starts around Aug. 10 an official says......

i think this is must done before ramadhan so islamic activities are not disturbed.

Like Gatot said, the goverment would work with internet service providers to block the content. "the ISPs were quite cooperative. They only said they did not want to be burned.

FYI...Valens Riyadi from the indonesian internet service provider Association (APJIIA) said the goverment's plan would place a large burden on ISPs. "We are not in a position to reject the content-blocking, but we want it to be well regulated.

China flooding kills 701, worst toll in a decade

More than 1,000 people have died or disappeared in severe flooding in China so far this year, and the heaviest rains are still to come, a senior official warned Wednesday.

This year's floods, whch have caused tens of billions of dollars in damage already, have exacted the highest death toll since 1998, when the highest water levels in five decades claimed 4,150 lives.

With the typhoon season rolling in, Liu Ning, general secretary of the gernment's flood prevention agency, told a news conference authorities must ramp up preparations.

"Since 60 to 80 percent of the annual rain level occurs in June, July and August, we should be prepared to prevent and combat potential disasters," Liu said.

Tropical storm Chanthu is expected to hit Chia's southern island of Hainan and Guangdong province this weekend. Six to eight typhoons are expected this year.

Already, three-quarters of China's provinces have been plagued by flooding and 25 rivers have seen record-high water levels, Liu said.

State broadcaster China Central Television showed footage of soldiers and rescue workers searching through rubble and mud for survivors of a landslide in Ankang city in the northern province of Shaanxi, where 14 people have died and 35 remained missing as of Wednesday.

Footage from Shaanxi and the southwestern province of Sichuan showed flooded shops and homes, with buses and cars driving down water-filled streets. Some residents waded through knee-deep water to stock up at the local supermarket.

Flooding, particularly along the Yangtze River basin, has overwhelmed reservoirs, swamped towns and cities, and caused landslides that have smothered communities, including toppling 645,000 houses. The Three Gorges Dam faced its highest levels ever this week and water breached the massive dam.

"Although water levels in the upper stretches of the Yangtze River have surpassed that of 1998, the flood situation is still not as severe because the Three Gorges Dam has played a key role in preventing floods along the river this year," Liu said.

The waters have killed 701 people and left 347 missing. The overall damage totals 142.2 billion yuan ($21 billion), Liu said.

This year's torrential floods have hit farms especially hard, affecting 2.3 million acres (930,000 hectares) of crops, with more than 330 acres (133 hectares) destroyed by floods as of July 10, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Indonesia Wins 4 Gold Medals in International Physics Olympics

TEMPO Interactive, Pamekasan:The Indonesian Physics Olympics Team (TOFI) has won four gold medals and one silver medal. The team of five students was sent to the 41st International Physics Olympics in Zagreb, Croatia, on July 17 to 25, 2010.

The gold medal was won by Muhammad Sohibul Maromi (State High School Number 1 Pamekasan, Madura, East Java), Christian George Emor (Lokon St. Nikolaus High School, Tomohon, North Sulawesi), David Giovanni (Penabur Gading Serpong High School, Tangerang, Banten), and Kevin Soedyatmiko (State High School Number 12 Jakarta). The silver medal was won by Ahmad Ataka (State High School Number 3 Yogyakarta).

TOFI’s achievement this year was an improvement over last year’s performance in Mexico where they only won one gold medal, three silver, and one bronze medal.

The arrival of Mohammad Shohibul Maromi was greeted by Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman at the regency hall yesterday. Kholilurrahman hoped that his achievement can motivate other students to study more diligently and continue the tradition of winning gold medals at the International Physics Olympics.

State High School Number 1 Pamekasan Principal, Basyoir, said this was an extraordinary achievement. “I don’t have the words for it,” he said yesterday.

For State High School Number 1 in Pamekasan, this is not the first of such an achievement. In 2006, another student, Andi Oktavian Latief, also won the 37th International Physics Olympics in Singapore. At that time, TOFI won four gold medals and one silver medal.

“Thanks be to God, Alhamdulillah, we are the only regency in Madura to have achieved this,” Basyoir said proudly.

Before departing for Croatia, Shohibul and Ali Ihsanul Qauli, also from State High School Number 1 Pamekasan, won silver and bronze medals in the 10th Asian Physics Olympics held in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2009.


In the 11th Asian Physics Olympics held in Taiwan on April 23 to May 2010, both students won a silver medal and an honorable mention. The success in Taiwan qualified Romi to become a TOFI member with four other students competing in Zagreb.
